It’s also worth noting that there’s a lot more swearing in this game, such as IF saying “damn” and “hell” much more often than in the other games. She’s quick to get very mad and even quicker to insult people. IF is also a bit more rude and insulting than usual. But in this game, she’s highly violent towards Uzume, whom she believes is destroying the world. The biggest change being Dreamcast, who’s normally very friendly and sweet, if somewhat ditzy, who dislikes fighting (even though she’s skilled with her Dreamblade). Another problem is the massive change the Hard Girls undertake in the game. There’s also the fact that Segami is a massive brat. Main one being that Neptune is far more obnoxious in this game.

But anyway, while the game is certainly enjoyable, there are problems. In Fever Mode, enemies will be unable to get a turn until it ends and characters can spend as much SP as they please.īelieve it or not, this was my introduction to the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. Grabbing it will grant the entire party Fever Mode. There are also very special items that can only be reached by Goddesses while they’re in HDD. For the first time in the series, characters can jump while in battle, which is used to get those items. Finally, on the field, special items will spawn, some giving health while others give mana. So if go into Over, that character will have to wait a while, as opposed to someone who, say, attacked once before ending their turn. It’s also worth noting that where the bar stops when a character dictates when they can attack again.

But if the bumper is pressed while in the Guard section, that character will guard. Once the bar has risen to the Over section, that character is forced to stop and end their turn, which is done by pressing the Right bumper. Actions are judged by a bar at the side of the screen with more actions making the bar rise. You can also hold down the attack button for a Charged Attack. For example, it’s possible to have a character attack a few times, then end with an item or use a skill.

Not only that, but you’re free to stop attacking at any time without wasting the rest of a character’s turn. But the difference being that there are no Rush, Power, or Break combs. In battle, things play out like most other HDN games. They’re also able to travel to the Mega Drive Era (the first era and has Mega Drive and Plutia), Game Gear Era (coming after Sega Saturn Era and having Game Gear and Nepgear), and Dreamcast Era (containing Dreamcast and Uzume). They first start at the Sega Saturn Era, only to find Sega Saturn attempting to fight Neptune, who doesn’t want anything to do with a fight. So IF and Segami travel back in time to figure out what’s wrong.

Since history needs someone to observe it, Histoire converts IF’s precious bike into a time machine (much to IF’s chagrin). It is then discovered that history is disappearing, causing various damages to the timeline. After awaking, the young woman wakes up, introducing herself as Segami, but has lost her memory, apart from her name. While exploring the library, IF is attacked and knocked out. A short while later, she finds the Grand Library, run by a tome named Histoire (Ultradimension’s Mini-Histy), whose job is to observe and record history. Until suddenly, she spots an unconscious young woman falling from the sky, catching her in time before she hits the ground. IF is a lone wanderer, traveling from town to town on her bike, searching for adventure. In the distant future, the world is in ruin from an unknown catastrophe.
